Inspiration Behind Hafsa's Tables

Image
Inspiration behind Hafsa’s Tables One day, my cousin contacted me and said we should have a competition between our two blogs (Check out https://saadazfarwritings.blogspot.com/ ). It was just a concept, there wasn’t any deadline, and I wasn’t really invested. Until I got inspired and published Hafsa’s Tables. (Tired writer) Okay, yes, I just wrote 9 pages in like, 3 days. Do I owe you an explanation? Honestly, I need some serious motivation to get my fingers on the keyboard and start brainstorming. I started by searching up cool town names. Yeah, I’m not awesome enough to come up with ‘South Hallow’ by myself. It wasn’t hard creating the narrative of a Muslim woman trying to fit in, especially with kids, because I have a soft spot for kids. And I’m crushed when they don’t love me back, Muslim or not. I’ve always wanted to explain Islam to younger nonMuslims, but I was never in a position to do that until I absolutely gained their trust. As you can see, Hafsa accomplished just tha...

Hafsa's Table

May peace be on you, Reader. Welcome to   The Muslim Ninja blog. 'Hafsa's Table' A Short Story By Muslim Ninja Hafsa’s Table           A calm autumn sunrise greeted the residents of the sleepy port town of South Hallow. The ocean waves broke upon the shore, smoothing down the millions of black pebbles that made up the cove. The birch trees that lined the main road were shedding leaves of amber and gold. It was unusual for anyone to be awake at such an early hour in the morning, except for the cleaning crew, which came to rake and clear the leaves away. However, schools had given their usual week off so that their students could enjoy the glorious weather. Kids gathered together in their school groups, giddily running and jumping into giant piles of leaves. Mothers zipped their kids’ jackets all the way up, and what was left of their faces was covered in scarves. Fathers sat on the park benches, sipping on cups of coffee and supervis...

Red Tape

May peace be on you, Reader. Welcome to the Muslim Ninja blog. You can call me Ninja. Yes, I know. It's been a really long time since I've posted. I've been on vacation! We wanted to escape our obligations for a while. But here is a brand new poem! It is about Palestine, may Allah free them in our lifetimes. Say Ameen! And comment it too! This poem should have been the first one on our blog, but it takes a while to create a thoughtful and powerful poem. It is a bit different from my usual lighthearted style, but that's because this is serious topic. SO without further ado, I present 'Red Tape'. Red Tape Open, clean, inviting buildings Calling one and all Yet crisscrossing rows of red tape Cover the imposing wall Powers smile, laugh, chat Shaking hands aplenty Yet mouths are shut with red tape When innocents cry and plea Cameras focus, point, click, Sharing news on the ground Yet the lens are covered with red tape When lies try to sneak around Furious faces, chan...

The Ninja Greets You

May peace be on you, Reader. Welcome to   The Muslim Ninja blog. You can call me Ninja. You: 'Who is this?' I would describe myself as a Muslim woman. I am the  eldest of 3 other siblings, with ages ranging from 14 to 4,  which creates a unique dynamic in our house. I love my  parents. I consider myself a smart student, though I don't  study as much as I should. My goal is to memorize the  whole Qur'an before I finish high school, if Allah wills. My  hobbies include writing, reading, and listening to vocals- only nasheeds. I excel at speaking and write poetry from  time to time.  The purpose of this blog is to share my reflections and  works of art, such as poems, book reviews, stories of my  life, and fantasy stories. I'd also like to connect to other  people outside of my little bubble and get feedback on my  writings and experiences.  As an introduction to this blog, I've made a little poem. The Blog Welcome in,...
